Security guards in Merton
Albiz Security provides SIA-licensed security officers across Merton, covering Wimbledon's offices and shops, the Wandle Valley industrial estates of Mitcham and Colliers Wood, and the estates being rebuilt from South Wimbledon to Mitcham. We cover Morden and the rest of the borough too, and we monitor officers and sites 24/7.
Which parts of Merton do we cover?
Every part of the borough: Wimbledon and its village, South Wimbledon, Colliers Wood, Mitcham, Morden and the streets between them.
Wimbledon is Merton’s Major town centre (London Plan), with its own Business Improvement District, Love Wimbledon (Love Wimbledon). The plan groups Wimbledon, Colliers Wood and South Wimbledon into one Opportunity Area, with capacity for 5,000 homes and 6,000 jobs. Wimbledon station brings together the District line, trams and National Rail (TfL, National Rail).
Mitcham and Morden are District centres, and the London Plan sees Colliers Wood as a future one. It rates the potential for new homes as high in all three. Morden station is the southern end of its branch of the Northern line. The council plans to remake Morden town centre.
Industrial land runs along the Wandle Valley in three Strategic Industrial Locations (London Plan):
- Willow Lane, Beddington and Hallowfield Way, around the Willow Lane estate in Mitcham
- Morden Road Factory Estate and Prince George’s Road, where the council’s Colliers Wood character study notes a concentration of industrial and commercial units
- North Wimbledon, which carries on into Garratt Business Park across the Wandsworth border
The London Plan wants this land kept for industry and used more intensively, and it says development in or next to these locations must not compromise their ability to operate around the clock (London Plan, Policy E5).
Estates being rebuilt. A regeneration scheme backed by the council is rebuilding three neighbourhoods over about 15 years: High Path in South Wimbledon, and Ravensbury and Eastfields in Mitcham (Merton Council).
What needs guarding in Merton?
Industrial estates. On the Wandle Valley estates, an officer can run the gate during working hours, checking vehicles, drivers and visitors in and out, then lock up and patrol the yard, fences and parked trailers once the units close. See warehouse and industrial security. For estates that only need checking, mobile patrols visit at set or random times instead of keeping an officer there all night.
Estate regeneration. The rebuild goes phase by phase on estates where people still live. At Eastfields and Ravensbury, residents already live in new homes while the next ones are built beside them (Merton scrutiny panel papers, 2026). With neighbours walking past the hoardings, construction site security means firm access control at the gate and courtesy to everyone outside it, and traffic marshals can keep reversing lorries away from pedestrians.
Offices in Wimbledon. The London Plan rates Wimbledon’s commercial growth potential as high and sees room for speculative office development there. For a Wimbledon office, our office security officers can greet and sign in visitors, control who gets past reception, and lock up and patrol the building after hours.
Shops. In Wimbledon, Mitcham, Morden and Colliers Wood, a uniformed retail security officer deters theft by being seen, backs up your staff and stays helpful to customers.
What should Merton buyers plan for?
- Wimbledon fortnight changes the roads. Merton sets parking restrictions for the Championships. In 2026 they covered Wimbledon Village, Wimbledon Park and parts of the town centre from 29 June to 12 July, and residents and their visitors needed a permit from the AELTC to enter closed roads (Merton Council). If your premises are inside that area, tell us in spring so cover is planned around it.
- The town centre has a BID. Love Wimbledon spends its levy on the Wimbledon BID area alone. Before you book cover, ask Love Wimbledon what it already funds, so your officer adds to it rather than repeating it.
- Evening trade in Wimbledon. The London Plan rates Wimbledon’s night-time economy as regionally significant. Whoever controls the door of a licensed bar or venue needs an SIA door supervisor licence (SIA).

Questions
Questions about security in Merton
Can you staff a Wimbledon site during the Championships?
Yes, with some planning. Merton publishes the restricted streets for each year's Championships, with a map (Merton Council). If your premises are on the list, tell us early, and we'll plan officers' travel, parking and handovers around the restrictions.
Do you cover the industrial estates in Mitcham and Colliers Wood?
Yes. We cover all three of Merton's Strategic Industrial Locations: Willow Lane, Beddington and Hallowfield Way; Morden Road Factory Estate and Prince George's Road; and North Wimbledon, which runs into Garratt Business Park in Wandsworth.
Can your officers work on a site where residents still live next door?
Yes. On a phased estate rebuild, officers can control the site gate and keep a log of who comes in, while staying polite and helpful to the neighbours who walk past it every day.
