Security guards in Bromley
Bromley is the largest London borough by area, and more than half of it is green belt, so its offices, shops and warehouses are spread between scattered town centres and business areas. Albiz Security can provide SIA-licensed officers in Bromley town centre and Orpington, warehouse cover in the Cray Business Corridor, and patrols and keyholding for premises that don't need a guard all night.
Which parts of Bromley do we cover?
Every part of it, from Penge, Beckenham and Crystal Palace in the north-west to Orpington and, in the far south, Biggin Hill. The borough covers 59 square miles, more than half of it green belt, and the council calls it the most rural London borough (Bromley Council).
Bromley town centre is one of 14 metropolitan centres in London and the only one in the borough (GLA). It is also the borough’s main office location. Bromley Town ward has almost half the borough’s office space (Bromley Local Plan), and the GLA finds it concentrated on Elmfield Road, around Bromley South and Bromley North stations and on London Road.
Orpington is a major town centre close to the M25, with the borough’s next largest office cluster at about 22,000 square metres (Bromley Local Plan). Beckenham, Penge, Petts Wood and West Wickham are district centres, and the Crystal Palace and Upper Norwood centre is shared with Croydon and Lambeth (London Plan).
Business areas. Of roughly 120 hectares in industrial or warehouse use, most sits in the Cray Business Corridor, Lower Sydenham (Kangley Bridge Road), Elmers End and Biggin Hill (Bromley Local Plan). St Mary Cray is the largest, with just under 40 hectares; it and the Foots Cray Business Area, which crosses into Bexley, are Strategic Industrial Locations (London Plan). At Biggin Hill, the business area offers premises with close links to aviation, beside the airport that the council owns and leases to a private operator.
Parks and health. Crystal Palace Park, with its concert bowl, has been run day to day by the Crystal Palace Park Trust on a 125-year lease since September 2023, while the council delivers a £52m regeneration plan (Bromley Council). The Princess Royal University Hospital is at Farnborough Common, Orpington.
What needs guarding in Bromley?
Offices. With the borough’s two main office clusters in Bromley town centre and Orpington, office security officers can run reception by day, then lock up and patrol the building once staff leave.
Shops, early and late. Retail in Bromley is focused on the pedestrianised High Street. In 2023 the town centre was chosen as one of three Night Time Enterprise Zones, and evening spending rose during the events (GLA). Bromley, Orpington and Penge each have a BID (Bromley Council). Uniformed retail officers can cover the shop floor through those evening hours.
Warehouses in the Cray Business Corridor. The Local Plan calls St Mary Cray the borough’s prime location for light industry and warehousing, with good links to the M25, and steers larger distribution buildings to the Cray Business Corridor. Warehouse and industrial security covers gatehouse checks on drivers and loads and patrols of the yard.
Premises spread over a large borough. Not every shop, office or small unit in Bromley needs an officer through the night. Mobile patrols visit at set or random times to check, lock or unlock the building, and with keyholding and alarm response we hold your keys and send an officer when the alarm goes off.
Building sites in the town centre. Bromley town centre is the borough’s Opportunity Area, with London Plan capacity for 2,500 homes. Its allocated sites include land beside Bromley North station for 525 homes (GLA). When work starts, construction site security covers the gate and the site at night.
How does Bromley’s size change things?
Business areas spread far apart. Bromley’s industrial and warehouse land is split between the Cray Business Corridor, Lower Sydenham, Elmers End and Biggin Hill, spread across a 59-square-mile borough. If you have units in more than one, a single patrol and keyholding arrangement can cover them all. Tell us each site’s opening and closing times, so visits and lock-ups fit around them.
Evening trade in the town centre. If your shop or restaurant trades late on the High Street, match your security cover to your evening opening hours, not just the working day.
Events in Crystal Palace Park. The park is now managed day to day by the Crystal Palace Park Trust, not the council, so involve the Trust early when you plan event security there. Our event security officers work to your event plan and the venue’s rules.

Services
Which of our services suit Bromley?
Retail security
Bromley's pedestrianised High Street anchors the borough's only metropolitan town centre. When the centre was one of three Night Time Enterprise Zones in 2023, spending there between 6pm and 9pm rose by 70% during the events. An officer can cover late trading as well as the day.
Office and corporate security
The 2019 Local Plan counts about 132,000 square metres of offices in Bromley Town ward, almost half the borough's total, and about 22,000 in Orpington. Officers can sign in visitors on Elmfield Road or in Orpington and lock up when the building empties.
Mobile security patrols
With 59 square miles to cover and more than half of it green belt, Bromley's premises are widely spread. Patrols at set or random times can check and lock up a site that doesn't justify an officer all night.
Keyholding and alarm response
The borough's offices and shops are spread across town centres from Penge and Beckenham to Petts Wood and Orpington. As keyholder, we hold your keys and send an SIA-licensed officer to the building when its alarm goes off.
Warehouse and industrial security
St Mary Cray, the borough's largest industrial area, has just under 40 hectares of light industry and warehousing, and the Local Plan steers bigger distribution buildings to the Cray Business Corridor. Officers there can run the gate and patrol the yard.
Questions
Questions about security in Bromley
Do you cover Biggin Hill and the south of the borough?
Yes. We cover all of Bromley, from Penge and Beckenham in the north-west to Orpington and Biggin Hill, including its business area and the green belt land around it.
Is a mobile patrol enough for a small business unit?
Often, yes. For a unit in Lower Sydenham, Elmers End or the Cray Business Corridor that closes at night, patrols can check doors, shutters and fences at set or random times. Add keyholding and alarm response if you'd like an officer to attend when the alarm goes off.
